How does Sarah Jessica Parker Stay in Shape

Formally named Enter The Zone, the diet book was jointly written by Dr. Barry Sears, a former research scientist at the Boston University School of Medicine and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Bill Lawren.

Dr. Sears created the Zone diet which has caught the imagination of a lot of people. Famous personalities from Hollywood, such as Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Sandra Bullock among many others, swear by the Zone diet.

Dr. Sears, the leading authority on 'the dietary control of hormonal response' propounds that eating the right foods in the right way is the only way to become fit and get into shape. The book is based on the research in Medicine which won the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1982. Useful for both the layman and the professional, the book explains the dietary rules and how they affect our health.

The Diet

Foods can be our greatest friend or our greatest enemy. The Zone is where we feel "alert, refreshed, and full of energy." Most don't care about food and eat whatever and whenever we feel like. Food needs to be treated like medicine and should be consumed at the right time and in right quantity. Food is a drug we shall be taking three times a day for the rest of our lives.

The theory behind this excellent diet as mentioned in the Zone diet book is that food needs to be consumed in the 40:30:30 ratio. 40% carbohydrates, 30% fat, and 30% protein - that should ideally be the composition of the food we eat. Each and every meal - unfailingly. This ideal ratio burns up the body fat by tuning up our metabolism. In addition to the ratio, care needs be taken that low-starch fruits and vegetables should make up the carbohydrates portion of the meal; lean proteins to make up the proteins; and heart-healthy monounsaturated fat to complete the balance.

Dr. Barry insists that the Right Proportion and the Right Portion is the key to good health and fitness. We need to control the three major hormones in our body:

  • Insulin: Excess of this makes you, and keeps you, fat
  • Glucagon: Releases carbohydrates stored in your body in a controlled manner and stabilizes your blood sugar levels
  • Eicosanoids: The master hormones on which other hormones depend upon.
Fish and chicken are the main diet in the Zone diet plan, but there is a provision for practicing vegetarians too. Vegetarians can substitute the proteins in the plan by vegetable proteins. They can have Soy and Soy products as their main protein. There is another book "The Soy Zone" by Dr. Sears especially meant for vegetarians. It completely dispels the notion that this excellent diet is not for vegetarians.

Whether you are consuming chicken or a vegetarian diet the bottom line is:
Right Proportion and Right Portion.

The author has written thousands of website content articles on various topics.

How to get flat and sexy abs

In order to get flat abs, You really don't need to take supplements or follow fad programs to lose weight and get flat abs. You just need a plan and you need to be able to stay consistent with your plan.

You also need to know is that there are many brands of foods that are labeled and promoted as health foods, but in reality they are not good for you at all. Become knowledgeable about what these foods are and what foods you should eat.

The next thing you have to know if you want six-pack abs is that ab specific exercises are not the best way to get great looking abs. If you are using too much sit-ups or crunches you are actually wasting your time when you could be using full body workouts that indirectly work your abs even better. Exercises like the deadlift and squat will get you more results than any sit-up routine ever will.

5 Proven Ways for Weight Loss

Losing weight can be difficult for anyone. For some people, just the thought of trying to shed the unwanted pounds can send them running for the refrigerator. People often find many excuses not to lose weight in order to keep from failing. Fortunately though there are many weight loss tips available to help you make the journey easier and fail safe for even the most flippant dieter.

Take a Picture

Vanity aside, having a picture of yourself before your weight loss journey can help you stay motivated. Look to the picture of the body that you are trying to change to move you along that path.

Read What You Eat

Ever wonder what's really in a Twinkie? If you're not reading labels, then you are in for a big surprise when it comes to knowing what you're putting in your body. Read the labels on packages carefully and then make an informed decision on the foods you're eating

Find Support

Whether you go online or off, finding people who will help you through your journey will keep you motivated and moving. Reach out to them in times of weakness and to help you celebrate your successes.

Stop Comparing

Everyone's body is different; that goes without saying right? Even though we are all different shapes and sizes, many people still find the need to compare their weight and progress with someone else. If you're doing well, that will make you feel good but if you're not, it can kill your momentum.

Set Realistic Goals

Weight loss won't happen overnight. Along those same lines, be prepared to have a few setbacks throughout your journey. Aim for about a pound a week but not much more. While some people can lose up to two or three pounds in one week, remember that you should not overdo it just to reach your goal faster.

If you stay focused and motivated, you can accomplish the weight loss goals you have for yourself. Talk to others to find out what their weight loss tips are and how you can incorporate them into your own program.

Jillian Barberie Nutrisystem Weight Loss

I know what you are probably thinking when you see the photos of Jillian Barberie in a bikini or Marie Osmond wearing a dress with a cinched, tiny waist, because I think the same thing. Both women have lost over 40 pounds on the Nutrisystem program. And, I want so badly to be happy for and inspired by them. Really, I do. But sometimes I can't help thinking that these celebrities probably have chefs and trainers and all kinds of folks to help them through this - which are luxuries that I just don't have.

But, one recent day after I had a particularly nice weigh in myself, I started to think about this a little more deeply. The truth is, no chef is needed to prepare nutriystem food. You are really only assembling it and this takes about two minutes. If you can use a microwave and blender, this is all you really need.

Now, everyone saw Marie Osmond shaking it on "Dancing With The Stars," so we know she had a strenuous work out regimen. Jillian Barberie has said that she never really worked out until she had trouble losing postpartum weight following the birth of her baby. So, she did take up power walking and lifting weights, and if you've seen the photos of her in a bikini, you know that she's been quite successful. She's thin all right, but she's also very toned.

Admittedly, it's really easy to look at these celebrities and feel a slight bit of envy and discomfort. But, if you think about it, it really comes down to eating less calories and carbs (Nutrisystem takes care of this and the "celebrities" have no advantage here, as we all eat the same food) and moving our bodies more.

Sure, Marie Osmond got to have all kinds on fun on "Dancing With The Stars" and Jillian made friends with some hand weights, but couldn't we normal folks also work out more? If we enjoy dancing, we shouldn't need "Dancing With The Stars" to dance a mean mambo. If we'd like to hit the weights like Jillian, we can do so pretty easily. Hand weights are readily available and quite cheap.

I think the major difference is that celebrities are being watched and are therefore under intense pressure to follow the plan to the letter in order to succeed. If I am honest with myself, this kind of immediate pressure would likely kick up my efforts.

So, maybe it is not the celebrity pampering we need to emulate, but the spotlight. Because, if I knew someone was going to be zooming a tight lens in on my body for all the world to see, I'd be much more motivated to get moving.

Celebrity Natural Skin Care

1. Remove your makeup before washing your face.
Most cleansers work better and more efficiently if your face is thoroughly wet. Removing your makeup ensures that the oils in the cosmetics would not repel water and allow the cleanser to reach a good lather. You can do this by using baby oil or makeup remover on cotton balls and rubbing the makeup lightly off your face.

2. Wash your face thoroughly using lukewarm or room-temperature water.
Never wash your face with water that is too hot or too cold. Extreme temperatures can break capillaries, dehydrate skin, or even aggravate pimples. Studies also show that there is a marked improvement between the effectiveness of cleansers used with water of the right temperature over those that were applied with hot or cold water.

3. Use a gentle anti-acne cleanser specially formulated for your skin type.

4. Apply a small amount of cleanser on your face.
Pour a pea-sized amount of cleanser on your wet palms and lather it before applying on your face. Since most cleansers are concentrated, they can dehydrate your face and strip it of necessary moisture. Diluting it with water activates its ingredients and allows it to be spread evenly on your face. Cleansers like Healthy Pores have microbeads loaded with antibacterial agents that act like scrubs so let it work for you. Most people think that the more they scrub, the more dirt they can get off their faces. This is wrong.

Not only do they risk breaking capillaries, but scrubbing can also aggravate acne by pushing dirt and bacteria deeper into the pores. What you should do is massage the lather or foam onto your face in a gentle circular motion. This facilitates the blood flow in your face which improves your complexion while allowing the ingredients of your cleanser to penetrate deep in your skin.

5. Rinse your face completely and pat it dry.
Rinse your face with lukewarm running water thoroughly. Although trusted cleansers like Healthy Pores have easy-rinse formulations, it is best to ensure that you thoroughly wash your face of any trace of foam or lather. Not doing so might leave residues behind that can block your pores and aggravate your acne. After rinsing the cleanser off, use a soft, clean towel to dry your face. Never rub the towel on your face as though you are removing stubborn dirt.

Just pat it dry with a non-abrasive towel. If you are using a skin care system like Healthy Pores, you could follow this cleansing ritual with a special toner and moisturizer. Remember that when choosing a toner and a moisturizer, you should go for the ones that are compatible with your cleanser and your skin. However, if you are using a skin care system such as Healthy Pores, product incompatibility should not be a problem.

Jenny Craig Diet - Kirstie Alley

Hollywood star Kirstie Alley was very famous in her slimmer days. She was in various family-oriented movies such as Look Whose Talking, Look Whose Talking Now, and Look Whose Talking Too. Then she got very plump. Although her rounded figure paved the way for an entirely different ensemble of roles, being labeled as a Fat Actress isn't really flattering.

That's when she resolved to follow a few dieting methods just to restore her sexy body. She became quite successful in her personal quest of losing weight. And people got really interested on what was the so-called Kirstie Alley weight loss program. It was very effective to her. And a lot of females were ready to replicate her success.

But then, Kirstie Alley was sexy and slim before. She's a well-applauded movie and television actress. It was in 2005 when her body weight ballooned to at least 200 lbs. And it was due to her fat frame that she was offered the role of Fat Actress, which is a comedy series.

This role staged Kirstie's personal struggle against obesity. Before long, she went on to become Jenny Craig's spokesperson for her weight-loss program. It is the same program that facilitated her loss of 75 pounds in a matter of just a few months.

Kirstie followed Jenny Craig's weight-loss program at the time she agreed to be her model. The Jenny Craig program is a combination of picking the right diet, taking the necessary supplements, and doing helpful exercises. The Jenny Craig weight-loss program is a personalized one, which focuses on reducing a person's body weight through natural methods.

This program commences by giving the dieter the right mindset for the task ahead. In the same way, it is important for anybody who wants to follow a diet program to evaluate his or her outlook when it comes to losing weight. This is the only way to obtain positive results.

Kirstie Alley patterned her weight loss program after Jenny Craig's. Her strategy included the three major areas critical to achieve weight loss - food, body, and mind. The most crucial element of any weight-loss program would be food intake. A person has to create a healthy eating habit and formulate a special relationship with food. To slim down, it's thoroughly important that one learns to have control over the type and proportion of the food he or she eat. This is where healthy eating habits come in. Weight loss would happen the moment a person starts to consume nutritious yet delicious foods at all times.

The physical aspect of the Kirstie Alley weight loss program tallies with one's active lifestyle. This is necessary for anybody to hit one's ideal weight. The activities integrated to the program should be personalized to match your lifestyle and your weight reduction requirements. Food intake, exercise, and the use of supplements must be increased or decreased over time as well, in tuned with the body's metabolic changes. With the proper procedure, you can duplicate Kirstie Alley's success in weight reduction.

Christina Aguilera Plastic Surgery Profile

Twenty seven year old Christina Aguilera got her start as a pop sensation back in the 1990s when she had an A cup bra size. Shortly afterwards, Christina Aguilera boasted a C cup after undergoing breast augmentation, a popular form of celebrity cosmetic surgery. Christina Aguilera is also rumored to have had a nose job as her nose looks different than it did when she first burst onto the scene. Many believe that she has had plastic surgery on her nose, although she has not admitted to having this type of celebrity cosmetic surgery.

Recently, Christina Aguilera, who became popular at the same time as Britney Spears, was rumored to have had liposuction after the birth of her son. She lost 40 pounds in a few months after his birth that led to speculation that she had celebrity cosmetic surgery such as liposuction, to help her along. This is a matter of opinion as Christina Aguilera is young enough to bounce back after giving birth and lose weight in a natural way through a good diet and plenty of exercise. However, because she has opted for plastic surgery in the past, many speculate that she may have done so again and taken a short cut to get rid of the baby fat that was caused by her pregnancy.

In addition to breast augmentation, a nose job and liposuction, Christina Aguilera is often seen sporting plumper lips, leaving some to believe that she has had celebrity cosmetic surgery to give her fuller lips. This is usually done by injection and will wear off after a certain period of time.

Whether or not Christina Aguilera has had some plastic surgery is not in doubt. She has most certainly had breast implants and it does appear that she has had a nose job. Rumors about her lips as well as her new more slender shape being the result of celebrity cosmetic surgery have yet to be proven true. Like many celebrities, Christina Aguilera does not admit to having had any plastic surgery, despite the fact that celebrity cosmetic surgery is nothing new and certainly not rare in Hollywood.

Top 5 Bizarre Weight Loss Techniques

Relax and Just Breathe
To start this list, let's go with the most extreme version of dieting - eating and drinking nothing at all. That's right, in case it wasn't obvious to you, one way to lose weight is to stop consuming anything! Or at least that's the philosophy of the Breatharians - a group of people (sometimes called a "cult") that strive to achieve oneness with the world by living off of air and sunlight alone.

The Breatharian Institute of America explains their philosophy as such:
"When humans reach the purest sense of harmony with the surrounding world as well as a complete understanding of each individual's role as a function of God to create the universe, they will have reached a vibrational frequency on this material plane, where they no longer require food, water or sleep"

Sound familiar? Some might recognize the practice by its other name - starvation. And if you're wondering who the hell would practice such a ridiculous thing, you might be surprised to learn that there's tens of thousands of adherents worldwide who try to free themselves from "the drudgery of food and drink."

The most famous Breatharian is Wiley Brooks who founded the Breatharian Institute of America and who appeared on the TV show That's Incredible! to tout his regimen to millions of fat couch potatoes. And while you might be wondering how he does it - the answer is simple. He gets his real "nourishment" by eating Twinkies and hot dogs from 7-Elevens at 3am, as multiple sightings have reported.

The Jesus Diet
While the Breatharians believe in coming closer to God through starvation, adherents to this diet seek spiritual wellbeing by only consuming foods mentioned in the bible. Yep, there is a new dieting trend emerging in the Christian community - the Jesus Diet. Based on the principle of "What Would Jesus Eat," the Jesus Diet aims to imitate Jesus' diet as a way to lose weight and avoid sin.

"A lot of people have no desire to change their foods. Instead, they just go on medication to control their symptoms of obesity-related disease. But it shouldn't be this way," says Dr. Don Colbert who wrote a book on the subject. "By getting them to look at the biblical side it allows them to slow down and make the correct choice about their diet and lifestyle."
So what did Jesus actually eat? According to Colbert (no relation to a one Stephen Colbert), Jesus apparently ate lots of fish, raw vegetables, beans, lentils and of course - wine. Unfortunately, I don't believe pizza was around in Biblical times. Oh well, at least there's the wine.

The Beyonce Diet
While not technically its name, this diet gained particular notoriety after famed celebrity Beyonce used it to drastically reduce her calorie intake. Also known as the Cleansing Diet, it consists of drinking a cocktail of maple syrup, cayenne pepper, lemon juice and water for two weeks straight. Why these particular ingredients? Who the hell knows.

When strictly followed, the diet limits caloric intake to 600-1000 calories a day, which is well below the safe limit for dieting. Additionally, other problems include the lack of protein and other vital nutrients which is why the practice is usually limited to two weeks.

And the best part about it? According to nutritionists, all the weight lost during those two weeks will return with a vengeance - leaving the dieter fatter off than they were. Oh, the irony.

I'll Take It Medium-Raw
If you're one of those crazy people that likes their food cooked, this diet is not for you. Rawists are a rare group of "unique" individuals who believe that cooking food destroys many beneficial enzymes and is generally unnatural. I guess the delicious smell of a cooked steak isn't considered natural then- because these people go to enormous lengths to prepare all of their food raw.

Most of the food is stuff like vegetables and salads, but they also try to get creative by making cold soups and even a "meat-like" patty made from pine-nuts and yeast that you can then throw on… a salad.

And surprisingly, this type of diet actually has many devotees in various parts of the country. Dozens of restaurants that prepare this type of food have opened up in places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, New York and Chicago - all of which advertise the diet as a way to eat healthy and lose weight. But as far as I know, microwaving your cold tomato soup doesn't add calories.

Let the Tapeworm Do the Eating
While it's largely unclear as to whether or not the tapeworm pill ever existed or is just a myth, it's well documented that beginning in the 1930's, a new kind of dieting pill began advertising the unique benefits of imbibing a tapeworm. Later, rumors started circulating that the practice had made its way to Hollywood and into the bellies of people like Claudia Schiffer.

Snopes has listed the tapeworm pill hoax status as being "undetermined," but let's just for a moment suspend our disbelief and go with it. The idea that anybody, anywhere, at any time ever considered ingesting a tapeworm for the specific purpose of weight loss should give you a clue as to the bottomless depths people will go to in order to avoid a treadmill.

According to rumors, the tapeworm will live inside of you for a few weeks, growing off the food you eat which would theoretically reduce your weight. Then, if all goes according to plan, you just "coax" the tapeworm outside of you and voila - you're glamorous! I won't go into detail about how the treatment suggests you coax the tapeworm out of you, but suffice it to say that every aspect of this idea is revolting.

In the end, there's many ways to lose weight. But when you're crazy, an exercise bike and a healthy dinner just isn't "extreme" enough. Bring out the tapeworm.

How to look like fitness model

How To Look Like A Female Fitness Model Do you pass by the magazine stands in the store and envy the bodies of the cover models? More and more women today are coveting this body type; strong and muscular while still being feminine. Gone are the days where strong women are seen as too masculine and unattractive. The female fitness body is here to stay.

Now, curves are back so long as they are created with muscle mass and have a softer appearance. Hot celebrities such as Jessica Biel and Jessica Alba are now gracing the covers showing off their new curves. What's more is that these women are garnering a great deal of male attraction - much more than their thinner counterparts such as Lindsay Lohan or Victoria Beckham.

Luckily, if you make some smart changes to your workout program you can get yourself on the road to looking like the next female fitness model, maybe even covermodel!

First things first. Pink Weights.

If you want to add sexy curves to your body, you need not be afraid of heavier weights. Don't worry, you are not going to bulk up and begin bearing resemblance to Vin Diesel, as women simply do not have the testosterone in their bodies to be able to do this. In fact, in a very good situation, assuming sound training and great nutrition, a woman would be lucky to put on about half a pound of muscle mass per month. Not quite as scary as you thought right? And that is assuming everything is done right… many will experience a slower rate yet.

The problem with pink weights is that for most of you, they aren't challenging! You'd be surprised at how strong you already are if you'd just push yourself that little extra bit. So next time you're in the gym, pick up a ten pound dumbbell or if you're really ambitious, go for fifteen. You'll start noticing your body changing more in the next few weeks than in the last few years you've spent slaying away on the stairmaster.

Weights have the power to completely transform your body. They will make you a smaller, yet curvier version of your body now.

Don't be alarmed at your scale weight though as upon weight training your body weight may go up. Relax however, because one pound of muscle takes up much less space on your body than one pound of bodyfat does, therefore you may weigh more, but you will look smaller.

Next comes cardio.

Women have this tendency to just gravitate towards the cardio section of the gym. Whether it is the best place to check out the men lifting or it feels safer to them, whatever the reason, they go there and stay there - for hours at a time.

This is something that has to change. Think about how many hours of your life you've spent on that treadmill, stairmaster or elliptical machine. Do you really look that much different because of it? I'm guessing probably not.

Not only that, but how many of you put in your hour while watching TV or reading your favourite magazine? This is probably a good indicator that you aren't quite working as hard as you could be.

The truth of the matter is that your body will quickly adapt to all that cardio training that you are doing. So while before you might have burned a hundred calories running a mile, now you are only burning 80. Unless you continually add more and more time to get the same calorie burn, it is going to stop being an effective fat loss tool. And when you're already doing six hours a week, who really wants to spend MORE time doing cardio?

The secret is changing the format of your cardio from that of a comfortable steady-state session to one that's composed of high intensity intervals that will really kick you out of your comfort zone - and blast away body fat as well.

This is by far a more productive form of cardio to be doing so rather than wasting another hour of your life not really getting anywhere, next time you're in the gym for cardio, do twenty minutes, alternating thirty seconds going as hard as you possibly can with a minute and a half at a much easier pace to recover. It will be hard - I warn you. Stick with it for one month however and you will be extremely happy you did.

Now. Bring on the carbs.

Have you grown a love-hate relationship with carbohydrates? You love the way they taste but don't like the number they're doing to your waist. Understandable - many women feel this way.

The key thing to remember with carbohydrates is that they are not necessarily 'evil', so long as the portion size you eat remains under control and you are timing them properly. To have carbohydrates working most effectively for you, it is critical that you time them before and after your workouts. This is when your muscles are going to need the energy and will rapidly soak them up!

So if you're craving a bagel, have at it, but enjoy it right after you've finished a hard lifting session, as described above.

Get rid of your fat phobia.

One critical thing that many women do not understand is that in order to lose fat, they must eat fat. Women in particular actually tend to do better on a higher fat diet than males do. This has to do with their hormonal make-up and the way their body functions and responds to various macronutrient levels.

How many times have you reached for the cookies on the shelves, solely because they were 'fat-free' so you thought they'd be a safe dieting food? This was a terrible mistake.

When you remove the fat out of products, often times manufacturers will begin to add in extra sugar to make up for the taste. Newsflash. Extra sugar sends insulin levels skyrocketing and guess what insulin is? The fat storage hormone. So, what you need to do is try and minimize the amount of insulin surges you create throughout the day, while staying within your total calorie budget. Do this and you will have your best defence against warding off both hunger and fat gain.

Now, guess which macronutrient has the least effect on insulin levels? That's right - dietary fat.

So do not be so scared of consuming fat in your diet. It will help you deal with hunger and help your food taste better. Ideally you should be aiming to get no less than 25-30% of your calories coming from a combination of healthy fats (fish oil is particularly important).

Work Those Glutes

Finally, the one body part that most women usually will say they want to improve upon is their glutes. That curvy, sexy backside appearance tops the list of many gymgoers and in order to achieve this you are going to have to be doing the right exercises.

Concentrate on adding heavy-weight lunges, one legged squats, hamstring curls and ass-to-the-ground squats into your program. These are your fast track to a great behind. You can do all the cardio you want to try and get it, but unfortunately, all that might do is make you a smaller version of your exact same self. If you want to change the way you look, then you need to change the way you train.

Jessica Simpson Diet Plan

Over the weekend I was reading one of my wife's tabloid magazines. This particular cover struck a chord with me and it may have done so with the many people who read the Article in "OK" Magazine. It cataloged poor Jessica's battle with her weight and how the media is really taking aim at her figure. The quote on the cover reads "I Will Lose 20 Pounds in 8 Weeks." Wow I said to myself maybe the article will explain how she will accomplish this task.

What is Jessica Simpson's Diet Plan?
Well to our shock, well it really shouldn't be. The article did not map out Jessica's plan to lose the weight. It did however say that she will work with her personal trainers and I'm sure a dietician.
So the rest of us are left without a solution to our own way to look as fabulous as Jessica Simpson. Some of us probably said "Sure it's easy for her since she has personal trainers and someone to cook for her!"

Well not exactly, Jessica will still have to stop munching on the sweets, the after meal desserts she enjoys on a regular basis and she will have to get the gym. That is not an easy thing to do. Even for Jessica Simpson!

So what can you do to achieve your Hollywood body in 8 weeks?

  • Drink plenty of water - At least 8 glasses a day.

  • Swap your sugary snacks for fresh fruits or cheese.

  • Increase you fiber intake- leafy green salads are good. They will also make you feel full without the extra calories. Watch the dressings though. They can be loaded with sugar and calories. Opt for balsamic vinegar it is only 25 calories per serving.

  • Switch your white bread to whole grain bread. These have more fiber (make you feel full effect) and will provide you with quality complex carbohydrates.

  • Choose lean ground turkey over ground beef.

Ok great you say. You may or may not have know these tips already but are looking for something more. You need a plan right, maybe some specially tailored recipes for you and a grocery list so there is no guessing.

Weight Loss Myth Buster - Part 2

Weight loss Myth buster # 4:
Skipping meals can lower your metabolism and makes it more difficult to lose weight. Regular meals are important, and what you need to do is to consume more of the foods which are good for you, which means more salads(watch the Salad Dressing), vegetables, nuts and fruits! Snack on a large slice of juicy watermelon or grapes instead of reaching out for the next scoop of your favorite ice-cream!

Weight loss Myth buster # 5:
Avoid White Food Contrary to popular beliefs, there are many "white" foods which which may be good for you- pears, avocadoes, nuts-just to name a few and the key is that what counts is the nutrients contained on those foods, and not the color.

Weight loss Myth buster # 6:
Grapefruit Miracle This is one myth that has no basis in reality. There is a group of individuals who are promoting grapefruit as a way to lose fat. In fact there is one small isolated research that states that there is a a magic fat-burning enzyme that can help you lose weight simply by consuming this fruit. However the validity of the claims is yet to be questioned and whether the citrus industry did play a role in funding those researches. Grapefruits are rich in lycopene-a good source of ingredients that can help provide nutrient and care for the cellular health-prevents cancer and heart diseases.

Weight Loss Myth Buster - Part 1

Weight Loss Myth Buster:
6 Biggest Lies about Weight Loss Revealed There is plenty of inaccurate data going around the weight loss industry and many people who are getting on this platform and looking for ways to lose weight have fallen victim to such myths. Let us look at some of the most popular myths circulating on this industry.

Weight loss Myth buster #1:
Avoid Carbohydrates This is perpetuated by the most famous high protein diets-the Atkins diet, South beach and a whole lot of other popular diets that promotes a diet rich in protein and low in carbohydrates. While such diets can produce significant weight loss in a short amount of time, the results are hardly long lasting and as soon as you start eating normally again, the weight comes plummeting back, even more than before!

Weight loss Myth buster # 2:
Genetics is the Biggest Factor To a certain extent, genetics do play a role in determining your metabolic rate, but this doesn't mean you throw in the hat. Your fate is not sealed if you have obese parents and grandparents. The most important factor in determining your success in any weight loss program is the number of calories you eat and the amount of physical activity you get in a single day. A simple formula burn more than you intake. Genetics do play a role in determining how much calories you will burn, as those with slower metabolic rates may burn calories much slower than those who are active and have higher metabolic rates. But there are always ways you can rev up a slow metabolism so don't ever use this excuse it's too lame.

Weight loss Myth buster # 3:
Fat is to be avoided Some people believe that cutting down on fat is necessary during a weight loss program. But the key to effective fat control is cutting down on the dangerous fats and increasing your intake of the good fat. At all costs, do avoid Trans fat and saturated fat and increase the intake of healthy fats such as polyunsaturated and Omega-3 that are abundant in foods like fish, olive oil, and avocados.

Truth about Diet Pills

According to manufacturers, diet pills use natural ingredients capable of prolonging life and containing alcohol used in medication or flavoring. One thing’s for sure, never take diet pills as substitute for cutting calories without the doctor’s recommendation. There are simple but important steps to be followed when taking diet pills:

  1. Never crush diet pills to mix in drinks or soups. Take it whole with a full glass of water.

  2. Diet pills causes a person to urinate more frequently due to its diuretic effect. This could lead to dehydration, thus, causing complications. As a pre-caution, it is best to drink eight glasses of water everyday while on diet pills.

  3. Take only the recommended dosage. Taking more than required will not help you lose weight but increase the risk of side effects

  4. Heartbeat should be less than 86 beats per minute. Stop taking the pills if it reaches 90 or higher that is why regular checking of pulse is a must.

  5. Always follow the instructions set by the dietician and/or doctor and not only rely on what’s enclosed in the box.

Also diet pills will only work as expected if diet plan is being followed.6.After three months, stop taking the diet pills. Common diet phenylpropanolamine is safe to use only up to sixteen weeks. Other studies show that it can cause health problems if taken under one month.
There are two kinds of diet pills; one is the prescription only diet pills and the over-the-counter diet pills.
Prescription Diet Pills - are drugs regulated by the Food and Drug Administration agency which side effects are monitored, maybe advertised and prescribed under certain dosages. The most popular of these is Xenical, which is licensed for long-term use. However, this too has it’s own side effects, diarrhea, oily and unexpected fecal discharge are just some. Therefore, users are advised to take a low fat diet plan.
While Over-the-Counter Diet Pills are categorized as food substitute and are unregulated. Beware that these diet pills are not Federal authorities tested and may cause serious side effects up to and including death.
Aside from a dietician, local pharmacists can also help in determining the pills that are safe and not for each person’s case. Just be extra careful about the so-called “natural” or “organic” ingredients. Not everything that comes from a natural source is safe. One example is Ma Huang, which is a botanical source of ephedrine known as a stimulant and being studied for potential side effects.
Those who have or have a family history of prostate problems, thyroid disease, mental illness, high blood pressure, and heart problems should avoid taking diet supplements. The same applies to those who’ve had seizures or strokes. If someone is taking cold medicines, especially those with decongestants, diet pills should not be taken. Whether it be a prescription or an over-the-counter diet pill, the dangers are unvarying with other similar drugs which controls the brain to reduce appetite and includes chest pains, hair fall, fever, depression, and even impotence.
And as a general rule, don’t ever try to take diet drugs if pregnancy is suspected. Persons that are allergic to sulfites and tartrazine should also avoid taking diet pills. And those who are under 18 years or over 60 years of age should consult their doctor first prior to taking any dietary drugs, especially if they rely on over-the-counter stimulants used as a replacement for increase exercise.

Healthy Weight Loss

No matter how peaceful your nature, when it comes to the battle of the bulge, you have to put up a good fight. In our eat-and-run, massive-portion-sized world, maintaining a healthy weight can be hard enough, and healthy weight loss can be a real struggle. The abundance of fad diets and "quick-fix" plans that tempt and confuse us and ultimately usually do not work.

Weight management not only makes you look and feel better, it influences your future health. A healthy weight decreases your chances of developing serious health risks such as heart disease or diabetes.

If your last diet attempt wasn't a success, or life events have caused you to gain weight, don't be discouraged. The key is to find a plan that works with your body's individual needs so that you can avoid common diet pitfalls and instead make lasting lifestyle changes that can help you find long-term, healthy weight loss success.

Lifestyle Change - Permanent weight loss is not something that a "quick-fix" diet can achieve. Instead, think about weight loss as a permanent lifestyle change. You are making a commitment to your health for life. Various popular diets can help to jump-start your healthy weight loss, but permanent changes in your lifestyle and food choices are what will work long term.

Find a cheering section - Social support means a lot. Programs like Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers use group support to impact weight loss and lifelong healthy eating. Seek out support, whether in the form of family, friends, or a support group, so that you can get the encouragement you need.

Healthy Food means Healthy Diet

Weight loss is a daunting task and every one knows that. It requires commitment, stimulus and a lot of hard work. However, a few changes can give you a jump start on your weight loss regimen.

Cut the red meat from burgers and other such foods to make your meal healthier and less fattening. If your meals will consist of poultry and fish then it will be easier to avoid the fattening but tempting restaurant preparations including fast foods which have nothing but high fat quantities and huge portions.

Preparation of food is another important aspect. If you like having a chicken, fish, turkey and shellfish as a part of your diet try avoiding the calorie laden entrees like sauces and creams and condiments with high calories Red meat reduction Frying is not a good idea. Try baking, grilling, broiling, roasting and baking. Salads and soups Always have some soup or salad before your meal. This habit will help you to lose weight, prevent hunger pangs and even control your portion sizes.

Fruit for dessert Fruits are better and definitely sweeter options than cookies or calorie laden sweet meats and treats. Fruits are naturally sweet and they don't pack in the calories and the cholesterol. They will also give you additional fiber, minerals and vitamins. Most people don't like having fruit and don't have it in the required quantity.

Celebrity Fad Diets

Are you wanting to shed a few of those unwanted pounds before the summer vacation, and considering one of the many celebrity fad diets that are constantly being advertised on TV and Magazines on the market.

Losing weight affects everyone differently, and there are a lot of positive changes once a person experience weight loss.

Apart from avoiding health problems such as diabetes and even heart attacks, losing weight could simply be an overall feeling of well-being and self esteem,

For whatever reason, the thought of losing weight may sound like a good idea. However, the thought of the discipline and sacrifice required to give up favourite foods, or making the effort to exercise, after a busy work day is, for many, just a 'step to far'

It is for this reason why so many people are searching for celebrity fad diets that offer a quick and easy solution to shedding those extra pounds without the pain and sacrifice required

Celebrities have their own pressures, particularly female celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, to look beautiful; they also are expected to have perfect bodies. But I doubt that they achieve this perfection on a cabbage soup diet? There are plenty of popular celebrity diets that are guaranteed to backfire. This is because these quick fixes instilled in certain diet plans are, in reality, are not efficient at all, because they do not employ the right principle and the right attitude in losing weight.

These quick weight loss diet plans are known as fad diets because that is exactly what they are, just a fad. In time, when fashion is over and popularity wanes, people realize that the celebrity fad diet they depended on is not so reliable after all, and they find they are back to square one, or even worse. Have gained weight!

Scientific research has shown that these celebrity fad diets do not prove that any individual is losing unwanted excess fat. It is mostly water that is lost with following celebrity fad diets or rapid weight loss practices. Water lost is regained very quickly. So there is actually zero net weight lost after all.

So one should not be foolish enough to be so gullible with the advertising of certain celebrity fad diets out there in the market; especially those which claim to aid losing a whopping amount of fat in a short time.

Each and everyone's body metabolism reacts differently to different fast weight loss programs and plans. Plus, exercise programs must be suitable to one's body, as many people are not able to exercise as rigorously as others can.

All in all, discipline and consistency is still the best practice and the key to a rapid weight loss success. Before entering into any celebrity fad diet, consider first, healthy light dieting combined with some form of workout.

The right amount of exercise applied in a regular way everyday will result in faster weight loss than many popular Hollywood fad diets on offer.

Facial Excercise for Weight Loss

Poor Valerie Bertinelli. Here she loses a great deal of weight, probably thirty pounds, maybe more, and instead of the media congratulating her on her new, svelte body, they are maligning her face, saying that she looks older now than she did two years ago when she still wore a size twelve. Losing weight means that your face will lose weight too.

Volume as unwanted pounds is shed throughout the entire body when a person loses weight. There is really no such thing as "spot" reducing as in 'I will only lose weight in my waist, tummy, hips and thighs,' so as you put away mounds of carrots, broccoli and organic lettuce leaves, just know that having a skinny body means you will have a skinny face. If you experience weight loss in your thighs, you will also experience weight loss in your face.

Loss of volume in the face is especially noticeable as previous atrophy like slightly sagging cheeks now are actual lines or grooves between your nose and your mouth. Jowls and pouches also seem to form almost overnight as the pounds melt away. You probably feel this is a very unfair scenario – losing weight to look better yet your face is losing the battle against aging. There are hollows that can form along the sides of the cheeks when weight is lost quickly. Sometimes hollows are thought to only plague those over 65 but if your weight has taken a sudden plunge, you might find your skin acting in ways you have never seen.

Fat surrounds our muscles and our internal organs as it weaves and marbles throughout our bodies. Fat nestles between our skin and body muscles. You may or may not know that it is very easy for our bodies to store fat; if we overeat and are under active, our bodies glom on to ingested calories. Most of us gals need only 1500-1800 calories per day to maintain our ideal weight; overeat and you outgrow your clothes as you become a candidate for obesity, Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure issues and other health challenges. In addition to watching our caloric intake we certainly need to include some type of physical activity to energize our bodies and to put the roses back in our cheeks.

When our faces show aging whether we have lost weight or not, there is sometimes great temptation to use extraneous methods to recapture our youthful appearance. Thinking that temporary injections that plump and paralyze will enhance your face may leave you feeling cold and offish. Injections cost a lot of money and carry a certain amount of risk. Oh sure, there will probably be redness or bruising at the injection site but if you choose to allow toxins and chemically altered cadaver material to be injected inside your body, you will first have to read and sign a very comprehensive disclosure that will absolutely let your practitioner off the hook if you have an adverse reaction.

Surgery is another avenue men and women consider when their face looks drawn and tired but if you stop and think about it carefully, cutting perfectly healthy muscle and skin, then draping it and suturing it into place may not be ideal either. In fact, some people may think it is a barbaric practice and not in line with healthy alternatives; after all, it is surgery and surgery always carries risk like infection, disappointment and even death. There are non-surgical alternatives and less invasive practices but not all of them produce the desired results of a younger looking face. Facial exercise, not twists, puckers or contortions, is a safe and sane alternative for a healthier, younger looking face.

The exercises are painless, there is no risk and you look like you did ten to fifteen years ago. Facial exercise that uses resistance training is likened to weight training. When you train your body with weights, the muscles sculpt, tone, tighten and reposition. Just as exercise works for the body, exercise will work for the face. Using white exercise gloves to hold and anchor tiny facial muscles, the facial exercises quickly work to enhance the face by engaging the muscles hidden under the skin. Most users see immediate results when using isometric facial exercise with resistance although in the beginning the results are not long lasting because the muscle needs sufficient strength training to hold the new look.

After a few weeks of training, the face begins to lose the tired, drawn look as muscles and skin become revitalized with oxygenated blood. Learning the techniques is easy, the steps are simple and the results are stunning. Now you can keep your face looking toned, tightened and lifted when you are ready to shed a few pounds without worry that your face will look tired or old.

Weight Loss Surgery - Tummy Tuck Procedure?

If you have been watching your weight go up and you are worried about the rising pounds, you may be wondering whether weight loss surgery really works. Is it possible to prevent future weight gain by putting yourself on a well-known weight loss surgical operation?

Today, weight loss surgeries are gradually gaining recognition when it comes to losing weight. Many health experts contend that people who are excessively overweight or has slower metabolism would normally require some surgical operations.

Surgery at Present

The greatest progress in the care of the surgical patient has taken place since the beginning of the present century. An increasing knowledge of disease and disorder as a result of research has permitted the development of many diagnostic aids. Some of these depend upon roentgenograms, laboratory procedures such as chemical, bacteriologic, and pathologic determinations, as well as monitoring devices and computer aids.

Hence, the result is that the diagnosis of disease and disorder is made with more exactness and certainty than was possible from the simple clinical examinations of previous days.

That is why people who wish to undergo weight loss surgery should no longer be afraid of the procedure because high clinical standards are now being implemented in every surgical operation.

The Concept of Weight Loss Surgery

Health experts contend that weight loss surgery is a “major surgery.” One of the most common reasons why people would like to lose weight is to enhance their physical attributes. However, it should not be the underlying motivation that they should undergo the process of weight loss surgery.

What people do not know is that weight loss surgery is especially generated to help obese people live longer, healthier, and better.

That is why it is important for an individual to meticulously analyze his or her situation, do some research about the process, and analyze if weight loss surgery is the ultimate choice for his or her physiological condition.

Moreover, it is important to gather further information about weight loss surgery by consulting an experienced and knowledgeable bariatric surgeon or even just an expert family physician who knows the ins and outs of weight loss surgery.

In addition, the patient should also consult the other health experts such as the psychiatrist and dietician with regards to some psychological advices on long-term goals after the operation.

Generally, patients who have undergone weight loss surgery are said to be successful if they were able to lose 50% or more of their extra body weight and will be able to maintain that condition for the next five years or so. However, the results of the operation may still vary depending on the clinical information of the patient and the skills of the bariatric surgeon.

Normally, the patient will be able to lose at least 30% to a maximum of 50% during the first six months after surgery; and within the year after the operation, the patient has the potential of losing weight up to a maximum of 77%.

Best of all, people who were able to loss weight through surgical operations can actually maintain a continuous weight loss of up to 50% to 60% in the next 10 to 14 years after surgery.

Factors to Consider

As with the other weight loss management programs, there are many factors to consider before the patient should decide to undergo weight loss surgery.

Consequently, the actual weight that will be lost is reliant on the weight before surgery, surgical procedure, patient’s age, capability to exercise, total health condition of the patient, dogged determination to maintain the necessary follow-up nurture, and the enthusiasm to succeed with the help of their family, friends, and their colleagues.

If you have just put on a few extra pounds and want to avoid gaining more, these weight loss surgeries for better health may seem convincing. But, in addition to being convinced, you may also have to take some action to ensure that your weight does not creep upward.

Therefore, it can be concluded that losing weight is not just a question of deciding to be strong-willed and determined or upbeat and positive. Lifestyle changes are where it is at for long-term success with your weight especially after weight loss surgery.

Weight Loss Tactics

Tell me, does this describe you? 'I tried a zillion diets in
fits and starts and was never successful.' Just going on a diet
will not give you a complete healthy persona. I finally paid
attention to what everybody was saying, but I was too lazy to
do.

I added exercise and fitness to the equation. We also need to
stay fit as well as diet to lose weight. Our true wealth is our
health. Isn't it worth your time bring it into peak condition
and maintain it? Diet fitness is all about an accurate mix of
diet and an appropriate fitness program.

This basically includes three levels of consideration:

1. Balance-A balanced diet must contain carbohydrate, protein,
fat, vitamin, mineral salts and fiber in well proportionate
quantity. Carbohydrates are the source of energy so these play
an important role in balanced diet. Intentional inclusion of all
foods from fruits to vegetables and meats to grains.

2. Moderation- portion control, small quantity at regular
intervals. I had to laugh when I heard the results of a 5-year
study costing millions of dollars the government ran to find out
why the population of the US is getting heavier. The
results…they determined we eat larger quantities! 'Super Size
it!'

3. Variation - wide variety in foods, means higher chances of
complete nutrition. And variety in your workout routine means a
greter chance of sustaining it.

It is a well-known fact that poor diet leads to diseases, like
obesity, even cancer and heart disease. The link between diet
and physical fitness has well been established and recognized as
a science in itself. It's the basis of dynamic and creative
intellectual activity. How do you balance diet and fitness?
What changes in your diet and fitness regimes will prove to be
the most beneficial ones?

These questions may have been on your mind for a long time but
you didn't know where to start. I let the paralysis of analysis
prevent me from getting started for a long time. I wanted the
'perfect' fitness plan. My advice? Just get started anywhere,
but get started. There are the solutions at your doorstep. First
and foremost, you need to ensure that the diet you are on,
supplies you enough strength and energy to carry out the fitness
training which means:

The basic fitness diet should:

1. Have a wide variety of foods-- wholegrain breads and cereals
for vitamins and minerals, leafy green vegetables for iron
fueling, fruit for adequate fiber, lean meat and Fish (lowers
cholesterol and helps prevent cancer) and low fat dairy
products.

2. Enable you to have optimal weight and energy to carry out
daily activities with ease.

3. Enhance quick and complete recovery during exercise.

4. Supply enough fluids to have maximum hydration. 5. Provide
both short and long term benefits and ease of maintenance.

When the above criterion is satisfied, you can confirm that you
are on a diet that is not starving you or running you the risk
of malnutrition and weakness. Fitness programs can include not
only basic gymnasium but modern techniques like dancing,
aerobics and yoga for variety and fun. If it is enjoyable it
will be easier to maintain.

Make no mistake about it, fitness regimes help you speed up the
process of loosing weight along with the diet. That is the key,
the magic diet accelerator. So eat healthy, exercise and be wise!

Overweight Diet and Fitness Experts

Diet is a topic much discussed in theory, neglected in practice. I am amused that photos and TV images of most weight loss gurus in USA show them to be "pleasingly plump", that is to say, OVERWEIGHT.

While "juicy" (or "zaftig" or "zoftic") bodies can provide sex appeal in the eyes of some viewers, comparison of health statistics of third generation Asian-Americans to Asian-Asians shows that low fat diets help longevity, and that soy foods increase resistance to numerous diseases.

ALL DIETS THAT WORK for weight loss have one principle in common: If calories burned are more / less than calories ingested, weight will be lost / gained. Physics can NOT be turned off.
